About

Emily Meier is an Indianapolis-based costume designer and fiber artist. She received her BFA in Fibers and a BA in Fashion Design from Indiana University in 2018. She graduated in the spring of 2021 from the Academy of Art University with her MFA in costume design.

She specializes in costume design and puppet fabrication for stop motion puppets. She enjoys combining her surface design into her costumes and creating new interesting compositions.

Her fiber practice combines surface design, installation, and embroidery. She stitches graphic imagery to tell a story and is interested in showing the passage of time and connecting her work to history. She works with deception and uses the beauty of embellishment to obscure a message.
